[2010-12-14] Implementation results of the project "Knowledge, Work - Future"

In 2009-2010 Refugees Reception Center implemented the project “Knowledge, Work – Future” according to the perennial program of the European Refugee Fund in Lithuania of 2008-2013 and the annual program of the European Refugee Fund in Lithuania of 2008.

It was reached during the project to solve basic problems on the integration of the foreigners granted asylum into the labor market, to use missing active integration means, to spread information about the target group to the society, to strengthen collaboration with the participants of the labor market, especially – with the employers, involving the participants of the labor market to the project activities.

The project was implemented during two years not only in Refugees Reception Center (for example, primary integration functions were expanded, various trainings were organized, employment was stimulated, commemoration of World Refugee Day was organized), but also on the territories of the municipalities of Lithuania, where integration of the foreigners granted asylum into the society was implemented (for example, the primary testing of the foreigners granted asylum was organized seeking to get to know the match of the competences to the situation of the labor market and the opportunities of the usage of their competences, the module trainings was organized, necessary for the direct integration into the labor market, collaborating with the employers).

In 2009 implementing the project activities the project results were evaluated during the first year and additional references were presented in the survey-report, which was prepared as guidelines, references, implementing the projects in the integration of the foreigners granted asylum in the future. Considering the results of 2009 and the conclusions of the mentioned report the activities were improved and added in 2010, using them at the maximum to the needs of the representatives of the target group.

In 2010 during the implemented project in Refugees Reception Center there were organized relaxation sessions, which 67 foreigners granted asylum attended; the sessions for the pre-school-aged children in the children’s employment room, which 17 children attended; occupation of the foreigners living in the Refugees Reception Center and secured information – the consulting in the library of the Center for the foreigners granted asylum; the foreigners were consulted on the search of literature, participated in the educational activity, had opportunity to use internet library services (total number of participants – 75 foreigners).

Also planning of the professional career and consulting of the foreigners granted asylum was organized. Individual career plan was made for each person, who participated in the consulting (total number of participants – 52 foreigners); computer literacy of the foreigners granted asylum, training of the state language and independence were stimulated. 45 foreigners granted asylum participated in the courses of the Lithuanian language; 45 foreigners granted asylum - in the courses of the computer literacy.

2009-2010 the testing of the foreigners granted asylum was made during the project, seeking to get to know the situation of the foreigners granted asylum in the labour market at the beginning of each year in order to adapt the project activities according to the needs. In 2009 the survey “Problems and Possible Solutions of Business Promotion of the Foreigners Granted Asylum”, on the basis the publication was issued for the foreigners granted asylum and the specialists, working in the field of the integration of the foreigners granted asylum. The publication “Problems and Possible Solutions of Business Promotion of the Foreigners Granted Asylum” was prepared in two versions – Lithuanian- Russian, Lithuanian-English. The total numbers of issued publication – 500 copies.

Training on labour market, in which 40 foreigners granted asylum participated,; 40 foreigners granted asylum participated in the training on the development of the social skill and the raise of the motivation; 15 foreigners granted asylum, wishing to start own business, faced a big interest. The training proceeded in Kaunas and Vilnius. Specialists, docents, doctors of these fields trained and consulted the foreigners. 5 business plans were prepared by the foreigners granted asylum during the training on entrepreneurship and the consulting, implemented in 2009.

Extra Lithuanian language courses (duration – 90 hours) were organized for the foreigners granted asylum, living in the municipalities and wishing to pass the state exam of higher level of the Lithuanian language. In 2010 10 foreigners granted asylum participated in the training of the Lithuanian language organized in the municipalities. 10 foreigners granted asylum had opportunity to get training at the work place and were employed for the trial period. Extra consulting on the integration into the labor market was provided for 10 foreigners granted asylum. The consulting on the labour right and organizing of independent work activity had the biggest demand.

In 2010 there were organized the events for the society and the foreigners granted asylum: June 18, 2008 there was organized the commemoration of the World Refugee Day, where more than 80 people participated, December 15, 2010 – the final project conference, where about 50 representatives of the various institutions participated. During these events there were presented the most important project activities, the results, the prepared publications, the thematic discussions were organized.

Information spread about project activities were implemented effectively: the internet website of Refugees Reception Center was permanently renewed, fitting information for the needs of the target group and the employees working in the integration field, the website context was complemented – alls news, events were described, 2 video clips were created and broadcasted during the project as mean of the opinion formation of the society, 500 information booklets were issued and distributed.

In 2010 the results of the implemented project were reached. The foreigners granted asylum, participated in the project, got the direct need, which will help them integrating into the Lithuanian society.
