[2010-11-18] In December 2010 the final conference of the project „Knowledge, Work – Future“ will be organized

In 2009 and 2010 the Refugees Reception Center implemented the project “Knowledge, Work –Future” ”(the perennial program of the European Refugee Fund in Lithuania of 2008-2013 and the annual program of the European Refugee Fund in Lithuania of 2008). The main goal of the project was directed to the integration of the foreigners granted asylum into the labor market, stimulation of immediate cooperation of representatives of the society and the foreigners granted asylum, spread of information to the society about the foreigners granted asylum.

Implementing the goals of the project the activity was developed not only in the Refugees Reception Center but also outside. In the Refugees Reception Center there were organized the courses of the Lithuanian language, the computer literacy; the consulting on the career planning; relaxation sessions, the activity in the children’ occupation room and the library was implemented; there were organized commemorations of World Refugee Day; information about the implemented activities according to the project was presented in the internet website of the institution. The specialists of the project organized in the municipalities trainings for the foreigners granted asylum on labour law, development of social skills and raising of motivation, business promotion and preparation of business plans. The foreigners granted asylum had the opportunity to get individual consulting on labour law, business promotion.

During two years of implementation of the project two video clips were created and broadcasted on TV, the methodology on training of entrepreneurship for the foreigners granted asylum was published in three languages. In 2010 the survey on opportunities and problems of business promotion of the foreigners granted asylum was made and published in three languages.

In 2009 – 2010 20 foreigners granted asylum got training in work place with rented equipment, later the foreigners got employed for 3 months trial period.

It was proved by all implemented activities that the employment, the integration into the labour market are the most important task of the foreigners granted asylum. The economic situation of the country, the peculiarities of the legal status of the foreigners granted asylum, the lack of the motivation, little opportunities to start independent activity determine these problems. On the other hand not only the foreigners granted asylum but also representatives of the society miss objective information. In order to interchange information, to communicate and to collaborate directly it is purposeful to organize conferences, meeting, during them the Refugees and the representatives of various institutions and interested people participated

The Refugees Reception Center plan to organize the final conference of the project “Knowledge, Work – Future” in December 2010 for summarizing of implementing work and their results.

Interested people plan to participate in the conference: employers, foreigners granted asylum, representatives of the Ministry of Social Security and Labor, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, representatives of UNHCR, representatives of institutions implementing integration, specialists of the projects.
