[2010-08-05] In August 2010 the research on the possibilities of the promotion of the business of the foreigners granted asylum in Lithuania

Implementing the activities of the project “Knowledge, Work – Future” ”(the perennial program of the European Refugee Fund in Lithuania of 2008-2013 and the annual program of the European Refugee Fund in Lithuania of 2009) the research on the possibilities of the business promotion of the foreigners granted asylum in Lithuania was implemented in July – August 2010. It was sought to explore the problems and the possibilities of the promotion of the business of the foreigners granted asylum.

The questioning of the foreigners granted asylum was implemented using an interview, interviewing the foreigners granted asylum, living in Refugees Reception Center and in the other towns of Lithuania. Totally there were interviewed 10 foreigners granted asylum.

The questioning of the experts was implemented electronically in the internet system. The questioning of the experts was made in one internet questionnaire. There were questioned 30 experts from the various institutions, participating in the integration processes of the foreigners granted asylum or from the fields similar to the topic or who had worked with the foreigners granted asylum during the integration or in the projects.

There was examined the benefit of the project „Knowledge, Work – Future“. Relating to the opinions of the respondents the activities of the project helped the foreigners granted asylum to increase the self-confidence, to get the qualification, the work experience and to spend more interesting time in the integration. The project promoted the training on the entrepreneurship of the foreigners granted asylum. The training on the entrepreneurship was evaluated positively, despite the fact that no one business as an independent legal person was promoted, but there prepared 6 business plans, the competence of 30 foreigners granted asylum was risen in the field of the business promotion. The majority of the interviewed foreigners granted asylum would participate again in an analogical project.

The summarized estimation of the activities was presented in the research. There was made a conclusion, that the project satisfied the expectation of the implementers and was useful for the foreigners granted asylum, who participated in it. In 2010 the organization of the project activities was significantly improved comparing to 2009, although the conditions of the environment changed to a worse side: the economical crisis, the saving, the number of the foreigners granted asylum has decreased, the competence of the last majority is lower.

There were presented the defects of the project “Knowledge, Work – Future”. The main defect in regard to the business promotion was, that the possibilities of the financial support was not provided during the project to the foreigners granted asylum, who had prepared for the business promotion – had prepared the business plans and the other organizational matters.

After the analysis of the problems of the business promotion of the foreigners granted asylum in Lithuania there were made the conclusions, that almost a half of the foreigners granted asylum, participating in the integration, have the potential to promote and to develop business or an individual activity in Lithuania: have motivation and wish, have former experience in entrepreneurship, choose willingly the training on the entrepreneurship and see the provided benefit.

The majority of the foreigners granted asylum in Lithuania could develop the competence of the entrepreneurship, got in their country of origin. But the foreigners granted asylum living in Lithuania don’t have possibilities to promote business without the support: due to the missing information of the existing business environment in Lithuania and inaccessible financial resources.

It is purposeful to support the business of the foreigners granted asylum, who are motivated to entrench and to live in Lithuania and to develop the started activity, who are motivated to raise the qualification and to improve and help willingly the other foreigners granted asylum and the local residents.

There are presented the recommendations: to provide the financial support for the business promotion to the foreigners granted asylum, to support providing services, to organize the training, how to prepare the application to get the support and the business plan, how to plan the implementation of the project and future permanent activity, to provide the assistance on law, accounting, promotion and e-business, also it is recommended to supplement the fields supported by the European Refugees Fund with the field of the business promotion of the foreigners granted asylum.
